We started in 2024 with a Sunday email to a few hundred readers who worked in food manufacturing and industrial biotechnology. The format has barely changed: reported stories, a science desk that treats replication as news, a funding page limited to rounds we can verify, and a column in which the editor explains the week's decisions.
How an issue is reported
- Monday to Wednesday: reporting, filings review and interviews.
- Thursday: drafting, with a second source on every claim of fact.
- Friday: line edit and a fact check by someone who did not write the piece.
- Sunday: the issue publishes in full, all at once.
What we cover
Three beats, deliberately narrow: cultivated meat and seafood, precision fermentation, and the cell-agriculture supply chain that serves both — media, scaffolds, tanks and the regulators who sign off on the result. We do not cover plant-based analogues except where they share a factory or a shelf.
