A national food safety authority has published a decision permitting the sale of cultivated chicken to consumers, making it the second jurisdiction to do so. The decision covers a single product from a single production site and does not extend to other species or facilities.
The published dossier follows the structure of the earlier approval: cell line provenance, medium composition, absence of antibiotic residues, and a full allergen assessment. Reviewers requested one additional study on lot-to-lot consistency before signing off.
Labelling is the notable difference. The authority requires the term "cultivated" on the front of pack, and prohibits both "lab-grown" and any unqualified use of the species name alone.
The company has not published expected volumes. We asked for harvested mass per month and were told the figure is commercially confidential, so no capacity number appears in this brief.
